Todays Verse/Thought: Are You Fail-Safe?
II Cor. 4:8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we donít give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.
Life Implication:
Yesterday we looked at man's NEED FOR SIGNIFICANCE. While this is an innate need in man, the fear on the flip side of that coin is the FEAR OF FAILURE.
There is a term often used in our government, in the military, and in our computer-world as well: FAIL-SAFE. Capable of compensating automatically and safely for a failure, as of a mechanism or power source. Or, acting to discontinue a military attack on the occurrence of any of a variety of predetermined
conditions.
As we begin to FIND OUR SIGNIFICANCE IN CHRIST, WE CAN BECOME FAIL-SAFE. How does this happen? I ask you, and myself as well, Who is your power source? If we fail in anything, are we capable of compensating automatically and safely . . . by going to the One and only Power Source that is capable of making us fail-safe?
To fail is simply the condition or fact of not achieving the desired end or result. This can surface in many ways: the failure of an experiment; failure at one's career; falling short in an endeavor; not performing properly in what is requested or expected; not passing a course, a test, or an assignment; having a decline in strength or effectiveness; a failed marriage; failure as a father; perhaps youíve had to declare bankruptcy. The list can be endless, but the culminating factor is FEAR! FEAR OF FAILURE!
Life Application:
When failure comes, and itís accompanying fear, with God's help DECIDE that you will not be crushed and broken. SAY before God that you REFUSE TO GIVE UP AND QUIT. THANK HIM that He never abandons you. DECLARE that you will get up again and keep going by His grace. Ask God to help you make these choices and decisions an ongoing reality in your daily life.
