Guilt Cycle: Worldly vs. Godly Release. Which One Will You Choose? #shorts

We enter into behavior that's not becoming. We end up feeling guilty about that behavior and we need to have release from it. What is guilt? Guilt happens as a result of maybe, I've got an alcoholic problem, a sexual problem, some bad language, I'm tempted to steal from time to time. I attempt to compromise at work.

It's a major, major problem. And it leads to a vicious cycle. We enter into behavior that's not becoming. We end up feeling guilty about that behavior and we need to have release from it. So release can come in one of two forms.

I can go to the world for release, what's the world? That's drugs and sex and alcohol, or I can go to God. When I go to the world, I might get some temporary relief, but how many of you have discovered the law of diminishing return? The law of diminishing return says that in and of itself, those things are never going to satisfy. So we feel guilty.

And then oftentimes that leads to what I call condemnation. You know, the Bible says in 1 Peter 5.8, it says, be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. And that's really true. Condemnation comes from the pit, comes from the enemy.

Conviction, on the other hand, comes from the Holy Spirit. More of the Men on Target series with Vince Dacchioli at otm.co.
