November, 2019 News

On November 7th Cindy and I flew to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to bring five plenary sessions to the NAME Canada National Marriage Conference.  This was our third time serving this annual conference over the past 8-10 years.

Before leaving Cindy and I prayed for God to bring new life to our Couples Ministry materials.  Cindy added some new teaching and we tweaked some of our sessions—it was truly amazing what God did.  Cindy had a level of anointing I have not witnessed before.  The couples were tuned to her every word—I have never been so proud of her.

There were many who were greatly impacted but one couple in particular stands out.  They came to the event on the advice of a friend who actually bought them tickets.  They were also in
the middle of a divorce and committed to ending their marriage.  The fact that they came was a miracle itself.  The greater miracle happened as they shared with us at the end—we decided to not go through with the divorce and reunite.  WOW!  This is what it’s all about friends.

We had another couple approach us and say that in over 40 years of following the Lord they had never heard teaching like this.  They indicated how powerful our message was for them and expressed genuine excitement about the future of their marriage.  Dear ones, Cindy and I want to thank you so much for your generous donations and prayer support for our ministry.  We could not do any of this without your help.

Once back from Canada I went in for foot surgery.  Though minor, whenever anything is done on the foot it takes a very long time to heal.  I am wearing a boot and will be on crutches for about 4-6 weeks.  We purchased a knee scooter that really helps but it can be somewhat awkward.  We picked this time because I am not traveling again until mid-January.  I have to admit I am kind of liking it though as I am getting a lot of sympathy—makes me feel good.

The end of November and especially Thanksgiving weekend were very special for us as our whole family was together for the first time in over 10 years.  We traveled to Fort Collins on Thanksgiving Day to unite with our extended family up there and had a wonderful time.  This season is such a wonderful reminder of all the things we are thankful for.  Our God is so good.

As we head into this Christmas and end-of-year time I am truly excited to see what God is going to do.  In the natural I am concerned about 2020 as I view especially our political landscape.  However, we know that the natural is not the real world and that our precious Lord is still on the throne.  As Christians living in America today I believe we are facing the most critical season in our nation’s history.

It will be a season where we are faced with the dichotomy of having to navigate with love and sensitivity in a world gone mad and increasingly hostile toward anything having to do with God or those that believe in Him and yet holding firm to the foundational scriptural and moral truths that we so dearly believe.  It will not be easy, and we will fail if we do not recognize the spiritual nature of the battle.  Dear friends—your personal walk with Jesus is critical if you are to be an effective witness for Him in this season—there will be no shortcuts.

Finally, as we approach another year-end we want to ask you to prayerfully consider a generous end-of-year gift to On Target Ministries.  Our commitment to you is that Cindy and I will continue to take the very best God has taught us over these many years and use it wisely to advance His Kingdom.

From our family to yours, may God bless you richly this Christmas season as we celebrate our Lords birth,
