Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14
Well, here we are in beautiful Temecula, California. As you may recall from my last letter, Cindy remained here with our daughter and her family as I went back to Colorado Springs to prepare our home and pack up. On so many levels this move is profound. Bittersweet and exciting at the same time. The hard stuff is wrapped up in having to leave our family and literally thousands of dear friends in the Springs. The excitement is ever present as we anticipate how God is going to use this move for His glory.
I drove back to Colorado Springs with Bentley, our Golden Retriever, on March 5th. Our daughter Kristen, wanted us to stay with her for the rest of the month and that was such a blessing. Kristen and I had such a good time together and it was so comforting being with their whole family. I spent the entire month packing up the home for our moveout March 30th.
On March 11th I traveled to Nampa, Idaho to speak at an Iron Sharpens Iron event for my good friend Brad Stewart. It was such a privilege speaking both the opening and closing message at this event. In the closing session about 20 men gave their heart to the Lord for the first time and another 80 raised their hands to commit to rededicating their lives to The God Who Is. I believe God positioned this ministry opportunity right in the middle of our move and the attending challenges as a reminder of our greater purpose.
During the month I also had the opportunity to connect with all of the men in our weekly AIM group as well as so many more that I meet with on a regular basis to say goodbye and be blessed. My plan is to send an invitation to all of these precious men to join me on a weekly Zoom call where I will be delivering our Men On Target curriculum…stay tuned for that.
All of this helped me to release from the past. The above scripture has been my life verse for over 40 years. Paul, a man you might say would have a right to allow his past to influence his future, is the same man here who proclaims, forgetting what is behind. Then in the very next breadth he proclaims, I press on. It is a very powerful spiritual principle at work here…I cannot fully press on until I have let go of the past. So, here is what the press on looks like so far;
On April 1st, Pastor Al McCausland from my old church joined me and Bentley for the trip to our new home. It was so generous of him to come with me to help with our move in. We arrived two days before our move in to our new home. After spending an entire week getting settled we were now facing Good Friday and the most precious of all Christian celebrations…Easter.
It is a noteworthy coincidence that all of this is culminating in the celebration of the great resurrection. In so many ways Cindy and I are believing this is a new season of be resurrected into an even greater measure of His incredible purposes for us. There are already so many positive signs. For those who read my last newsletter you already know about the incredible hunger we are noticing in young men here. We are also talking to a number of pastors and leaders about starting an On Target Institute (OTI) weekly gathering here in the valley. Please be praying with us about that.
As I am writing this I am in my new office and studio (under construction) preparing to start a number of weekly broadcasts. In the weeks and months to come I will be sharing the various platforms we are going to use. I also have this desire to stay connected to a number of leadership groups and people through FaceTime and Zoom. More info will be coming about this but for any of you who are interested in joining a weekly Zoom call for our OTI curriculum please email me directly at vince@otm.co.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank so many of you who have helped make this move possible through your prayer and sacrificial giving to our ministry. We have been able to cover almost all of our costs. This could not have happened without your help.
Finally, Cindy and I want to ask you to continue to pray for us. Here are some prayer points for you:
- Pray for Cindy’s health to continue to improve here at the lower altitude
- That the Lord helps us to settle in quickly and releases us from any residual anxiety resulting from such a major move
- Pray we can find our permanent new home during this next year as this one, though a special gift, is only for one year
- For the Lord to give clear direction regarding local ministry opportunities
Finally, please note our new home and ministry addresses:
