October was a wonderful month on so many levels. It appears Cindy is not experiencing any physical issues regarding the altitude here so far. We probably need another couple of months to allow her body to adjust to this new environment. Our initial doctor appointment with a lung specialist at National Jewish Hospital was pretty positive but more tests are forthcoming. Still appreciate your continued prayers here.
Cindy and I are encouraged by the number of requests that have come in for our On Targetministry events and speaking venues this next year. God is continuing to open up many new doors. In addition we have seen many groups and ministries starting up our new series on Essentials For The Journey. One of our board members has felt led to begin this series with several young men in their twenties in his home. If you would like to start a group in your home, please visit our site at otm.coand go to our store for more info.
On the 14thI had the privilege of bringing the message at our church, The Road @ Chapel Hills. The Lord impressed upon me the importance of dealing with how we as Christians should be approaching this mid term election and our potential upon our culture in general. The title was Real Christianity In An Unreal Worldand you may view it by going to our site at theroad.org.
During the message we handed out a wonderful new prayer guide that helps people pray daily over the Seven Mountains Of Culture: (1. Business, 2.Education, 3. Church, 4. Military, 5. Media Arts, Entertainment, Sports, 6. Government, and, 7. Family, Marriages). If you would like to receive one please give me a call or email me and I will send you one. We are also developing plans to seek out people in our church who already work in these important mountains to call them together for prayer, encouragement and some strategic planning on how to better minister in these important arenas.
The body of my message continued to talk about ways we as Christians can take a more thoughtful and spirit inspired approach to advancing God’s kingdom to those with whom we work and live. The three main points dealt with, Living A Life That Lights Up, Developing A Healthy Attitude Toward Others and Getting Out Of Our Comfort Zone. It was very well received. As an exclamation point I held up my Bible and told them this is the most important voters’ guide you will ever encounter.
My first two months at The Roadhave been amazing. I so love this incredible team of God loving and dedicated people. Pastor Steve’s passion for developing Whole-Hearted Disciples is so refreshing. In the coming weeks we will be further developing our vision and strategies for bringing the Kingdom of God into the community He has given us to serve.
Finally on a personal note, Cindy and I welcomed a new member of our family on Saturday the 20th. His name is Bentley. I picked up this 11-pound bundle of fur in Dallas from our breeder, Wisteria Goldens. He is what they call an English Cream Golden. He is the cutest thing you will ever see. As you may recall Beau, our 12-year old Golden died in my arms two days after we arrived in Colorado. That loss left such a deep hole in our lives. Bentley has already brought such great joy and we are so grateful for him.
Cindy and I are mindful that we will not be writing to you again until after Thanksgiving. From the bottom of our hearts we want to wish you a very joyous and blessed Thanksgiving. May God richly bless you with special times with your family and friends and may He remind you often of how much He loves you.
In closing I want to let you know that we are very close to finishing our workbooks for Men On Target 101 and 201, our new 2-year curriculum. Would you prayerfully consider a generous gift this month to help get us to the finish line?
We are so thankful for you, your prayers, support and your faithful partnership in serving our Lord.
Advancing God’s kingdom together,
