Target Point, Vol. 17 of 33 Today's Verse/Thought: Now That I Know-What Should I Do?
It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back-whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: Watch! Mark 13:34-36
Life Implication:
The above verses make it clear that we are to WORK (our assigned task) and WATCH. In the process of discovering our purpose, we must also prepare ourselves. We must be alert to the world around us.
Most Christians today know very little about what is going on outside of their small circle. This can be very dangerous. As Christians we should make every effort to prepare ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually for the rest of our journey. Not doing so renders us irrelevant.
Life Application:
As you continue to find God's purpose for your life, make yourself a student of the environment around you. Keep abreast of current affairs and know how the world around you thinks. Pick up reading material that will help you in this area.
You may want to use the web or your local Christian bookstore (authors like George Barna, Chuck Colson) to uncover additional sources of information. Position yourself to begin the all-important process of WATCHING. Remember, a successful soldier knows every aspect of the battlefield.
